Standards Alignment Guide

LoomLesson supports standards alignment across major frameworks. Here's how to get the best results.

CCSSCommon Core State Standards

Used in most US states for ELA and Math. Enter the standard code directly (e.g., CCSS.MATH.5.NF.1) or describe the skill. LoomLesson recognizes CCSS codes and aligns content to the specific standard.

Example codes:

CCSS.MATH.5.NF.1Add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.8.1Cite textual evidence to support analysis
CCSS.MATH.3.OA.7Fluently multiply and divide within 100
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.6.2Write informative/explanatory texts
NGSSNext Generation Science Standards

Used for K-12 science. Enter codes like MS-PS1-2 or describe the disciplinary core idea, crosscutting concept, or science practice.

Example codes:

MS-PS1-2Chemical reactions and energy changes
3-LS4-3Construct arguments about fossil evidence
HS-ESS1-1Use math to calculate star properties
5-PS1-4Conduct experiments on mixtures
STATEState-Specific Standards

For states with their own frameworks (Texas TEKS, Virginia SOLs, Florida BEST, etc.), describe the learning objective in the additional instructions field.

Example:

"Align to Texas TEKS 5.3B — describe the flow of energy in a food web."

The AI will target that specific objective in the generated resource.

Tips for Best Alignment

  • The more specific your standard code or description, the better the alignment

  • Include the grade-level expectation if you know it

  • Use the additional instructions field to specify depth of knowledge or emphasis areas

  • Always review generated content against your curriculum guide — AI alignment is a starting point, not a guarantee

Standards alignment is AI-assisted. LoomLesson is not certified by or affiliated with any standards organization.
